Demon Wars: Iron Samurai

The follow up to Peach Momoko's simply stunning Demon Days mini-series (please ignore the fact every issue is its own #1), this opening issue promises greater things. It feels reductive to say "Marvel's Spirited Away" but, hey, all pitches are reductive.

Jane Foster & The Mighty Thor Vol. 1 Issues 1-2

I am thankful for whatever force is keeping Grönbekk writing Jane Foster comics, because the fact they only exist as a series of mini-series shows that clearly they're not the sales hit they deserve to be. But still, they're great.

Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings Vol. 1 Issues 1-2

This is a retitled continuation of the Gene Luen Yang run which started with the Brothers And Sisters mini-series. Counting it all together we're on issue 19 and I'm overjoyed that we're well into a modern ongoing for the character.

Thunderbolts has always been about redemption and this time the team must redeem the team name after it was besmirched during DEVIL'S REIGN. I'm most excited for the return of Power Man!

Using the icy lines as panel borders to simultaneously show us Iceman AND the effect he's having on the environment? Well, that's just good comicking.

If there's one thing you can expect from a Zub-written book, it's fun. And this looks like heaps of fun. Peep teeny America and Victor underneath that giant fist! It's always fun to see a member of the Power Fist fam doing well for themselves.

That thanksgiving cover is everything I want and more. I love the Captain Marvel side characters and I want to see more time given to them. The solicit text doesn't give much away so I shall just mention that the current story arc is one of my favourites in this very long series.

The secret, tragic, awful origin of the ten rings! I wonder how different it will end up being to whatever the MCU has planned. Anyway, this book is a triumph and you should be reading it. Reinventing a character without losing the magic of what made them special in the past.

Ahh, I love a well timed "this comic has the same title as the current MCU project" book. You'd think they'd have at least given it a subtitle to differentiate it from the classic event, right? Ah, well. Ryan North is a name I will buy anything from. Anything. Within reason.
