OH HELL YEAH LOOK AT THIS I'M SO PUMPED
The penultimate issue of the #HeartOfTheDragon mini-series. Even reading this description is technically spoilers but I'm just so hungry for this story that I don't even mind! The description is equal parts dramatic and vague... I'm tense!
Whenever a live action production comes out (in this case The Eternals starring Kit Harrington as Black Knight) a comic or two comes out to get that synergistic promotion. I respect it. This one looks pretty cool. I enjoyed reading about Dane in the 90s Heroes For Hire series.
Oh yeah, Marvel publish more than just superhero books. Comics are an excellent way for film franchises to carry on and for the dedicated fans to be given more side stories, huh?
Anyway where's the Alien vs the Marvel Universe series all those variant covers have promised me?
That looks to be the end of the Heroes Reborn stuff, which I'm happy about. No need to take this type of story and spread it thin across the entire line. Keep it concise and to the point. Now I'll skip some stuff and pick out my personal highlights. But first, Shang-Chi variants!
Peter Parker, The Amazing Shutterbug looks to be a lot of fun. Civilian perspective stories offer a lot of opportunities for unique storytelling in superhero universes, and using Peter Parker as a Phil Sheldon slash Jimmy Olsen style character is an absolute no-brainer.
I'm no DC nerd, so a lot of the Squadron Supreme stuff may go over my head, but this looks to be a riff on The Legion of Superheroes? Either way it could prove to be a fun, if disconnected, story with some freedom to explore wacky ideas. Plus that Starjammers spin-off? What??
Young Squadron takes the Champions trinity and reimagines them as protégés to the Squadron Supreme and I really like these designs. Especially Miles sporting honestly my favourite Falcon costume in comics history. Interesting choice to bring Deadpool into this tale of mystery...
First of the tie-ins and whilst I'm not hugely into X-comics this one does have a really cool premise that I can't really sum up in a tweet. Suffice it to say I'll be giving this a look, if only for the amalgamated characters (which is the most appealing aspect of this event tbh)
Heroes Reborn is the status-quo shaking event and it's gonna have 7 issues in the core series. The premise, a world with the Squadron Supreme as the primary super team and Blade is the only one who remembers anything different, is d-wait. Four issues in one month? That's intense.
This is an appreciation post for @kevinwada's beautiful depictions of Iron Fist (featuring a bonus Dead Fist. Or Iron Pool? I'm not sure...)
Peep the differences between the Dannys of the two pics and how we can tell which era of comics each one is based on. Top notch stuff!
