Given Star Wars' association with the Hidden Fortress, a Seven Samurai story mad sense. It also introduced Crimson Jack and Jolli, pirates running a friggin' star destroyer!
Fantastic Four 79
An issue almost wholly devoted to the FFs relationships and personal journeys. We are halfway in before a generic bad guy even shows up.
By the team of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
In praise of Ninja
Ninja or Shinobi were once hired spies or mercenaries in medieval Japan, but faded into folklore. The 1970s American Martial Arts craze would grow to include ninja ad opponents and later anti-hero protagonists.
The Unequal Dual is perhaps the life blood of #spiderman. A loner, an everyman, he is matched up against foe after foe (many also Nature themed). His victory usuallu comes from will and guile (the spidey sense is a cheat though)
The Unequal Dual
From the fantasy Tyrannosaurus vs Triceratops to moongoose vs cobra to WWII submarine vs destroyer (and its fantasy counterpart of Enterprise vs Romulan), it is a metaphor of life that fascinates us.
@ComicsintheGA Happy Birthday Donald Duck!
Hope you find some other humans on that lonely beach you patrol.
First Looks at Darth Vader #StarWars
Marvel Comics (Howard Chaykin)
Dark Horse Comics (Eduardo Barreto)
I totally miss the 1970s Martial Arts Ballet genre.
This issue of Power Man Iron Fist was the first part of the Swan Luke Saga, which carried over into Howard the Duck's infamous The Nutquaker graphic novel.
