I had no interest in Batman vs. Deathstroke. If the idea was to just use someone who's a physical threat that hasn't been in a film yet, Lady Shiva woulda been far more interesting.

But if the idea was an anti-Batman, OMG there are so many of them to choose from!

For example:

Here's a comic book white supremacist from 1994 explaining how he joined the movement. Note the phrasing. There's not a whole lot of distance from "for America to become great again" to "Make America Great Again", is there...?

I continue to enjoy the heck out of Tomohito Oda's series from , KOMI CAN'T COMMUNICATE.

's CAMP SPIRIT is so good. Every single panel is a joy to linger on. Heck, just look at that cover. It has more design work, more characters, more characterization and more style and personality than too many entire graphic novels manage in a couple hundred pages.

These are the books I plan to order (plus BATMAN: JOKER WAR ZONE because it's got James Stokoe, Guillem March AND David LaFuente art in it!):

After seeing this DEATH METAL spin-off, I kind of hope and just keep pitching sequels with different metal sub-genre sub-titles until DC says no. I'm pretty confident they could get to DARK NIGHTS: BLACK METAL SCREAMO or TEUTONIC THRASH METAL...

It's about a peasant girl who must disguise herself as a prince. See her haircut? Would you believe she did that herself, and with a sword?

Knisley also has the classic Arnie, er, Archie Comics style DOWN. There's a sequence in which the Jen character is trying to read an Arnie comic, but in her worries, she appears within the comic, and then her mom's bf and some Disney-style characters also intrude.

She's also good at drawing extremely happy/content cat expressions. I kind of love this particular panel, in part because of the extreme disconnect between the emotional states of the cat and the protagonist.

First, Knisley is truly exceptional at drawing a particular brand of guileless feline expression that I always think of as "dumb cat face" (But please don't tell your cats I call it that; I don't want to offend any cats).
