If you slow down the teaser to look at the individual Popeye images, my favorite is this almost certainly unauthorized crossover between Popeye, Betty Boop, and Mickey Mouse that was published by a toy company in 1948. The car might be an existing character too?
I would buy this almost just for the digital art book component, because the concept art from these games is amazing, and some of it hard to find hi res nowadays. The art for MVC2 in particular is maybe the best Capcom art ever.
From there it showed up in the mega hit Pac-Man and various Nintendo games. Confusingly, the word appeared in Super Mario Bros. when you got an extra life. When SMB became a literal game-changer, it changed "1UP" with it. But it remains a mystery who on the team did it, and why.

Also, the comic wasn’t released until 1979 (after Cobra), and the movie in 1982. The characters first appeared in a series of novels, so it feels less likely Terasawa was aware of it before Cobra.
