Enlisted Nana to help me make a stuffy version of a squix from Spell Sweeper. The first time I saw @maike_illu's illustrations, I knew the squid would make a fantastic stuffy. I'll be making other versions (with requisite green eyes) & might do a giveaway in October.
Thank you to Isabella for this beautiful SPELL SWEEPER fan art. I love this version of Caradine Moone, especially those pesky freckles!
A4) I'd actually like to see more completely ridiculous books—books such as Fortunately the Milk. Pure silliness and escapism #MGBookChat
A7) Just finishing up Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan, then will dive into The Last Mapmaker by @soontornvat. #MGBookchat
A3) Not a trend, but I always want the "direction" of the cover art to lead the eye toward the direction the book opens. For The Guardians of Zoone, I specifically asked for the art to be flipped so that the ship was pointing right. (Art by Evan Monteiro) #MGBookchat
Just finished Lia Park and the Missing Jewel by @authorjennayoon and am starting An Arrow to the Moon by Emily XR Pan. #MGBookchat
Quote of the week for teens in my creative writing class:
“No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.”
~ Robert Frost
My own recent surprise? This week I unearthed a book I wrote as a kid about a GIANT apricot. I have no memory of it (but guess the inspiration).🍑

Ebook of the sequel, Return to Zentobia, is currently free:

Currently reading The Sea in Winter by @ByChristineDay. Fell in love with the cover, and am now falling in love with the text.
(Admission: unless it's a rec, I pick books based on title and cover, and never read the back cover in advance.)

@Jodyjlittle My book The Secret of Zoone has a character who's 11 (though I don't think we ended up explicitly stating that in the book). It's a fantasy that would fit that age group (I think). #MGBookChat
