Retrogaming of the 8 and 16 bit variety. That's my jam. 😎

I apologise humbly for my quickly typed tweet. 😋
The point: it shows they aren't sprites, unlike most fighting games.
All I was trying to say is: it's not difficult to port the game to the C16/Plus4, which don't have sprites, because the game makes almost no use of sprites. 👍

Those super-smooth graphics are messing with my head..
I want pixels! 😁 ..and to be beaten mercilessly by Pole for daring to stay still for 1/10th of a second. 😋 (C64 version)

The fun way to show they're character based: do a soft reset of the game. New players will walk onto the screen, and the old ones will stay there like statues. Do it repeatedly, then try playing two player, when it's hard to tell where the real player actually is. 😋

The odd thing with C64 Barbarian was that the player graphics were almost entirely character-based. (Only the breast-plate and goblin were sprites? Maybe the blood too.) 🙂 So, apart from converting the sound, there wasn't much else to do. (I say, not having programmed it.) 😋

Quite possibly. :)
I just bounce back and forth between the two versions of IK+ from time to time and .. well, one is a bit more graphically sophisticated .. but that's all I noticed. 😁

Pogo Joe probably looks like a basic Q*Bert clone to a lot of people. Which is a shame really, as it's really got its own style, and uses the layout of the level to much better effect than Q*Bert ever did. Very good graphics and sound for the era too. 👍

Gotta love that Hired Guns.
(Dungeon Master in a Sci-Fi setting? Yes please!)
😁👍

The controls are exactly the same on the C64 and Amiga versions. (They were programmed by the same guy, so the gameplay is identical .. the only difference in the Amiga version is the addition of a second bonus stage.)

There aren't a ton of future sports games that got me hooked. But Bounces is definitely one of them. It's like a horizontal bungee pub-game merged with Rocketball or something. Whether you're punching your opponent, or knocking them out with the ball. It's all very satisfying. 😁

Actually, as Speccy arcade conversions go, that's not too bad. Could be better, but not everything can be a Crash Smash, right? 😁 I just got a real kick out of seeing that recent Amiga AGA version come out last year. That was a quite a stunning achievement. 👍
