Carline thistle Carlina vulgaris. A strange plant - even when it's alive and well it looks a little dead cause of the straw-coloured flowers. It's much pricklier than my botanical illustration suggests and was brutal to illustrate.

Hello all, a client wants to know if the White Admiral is ever a pollinator of honeysuckle? I know caterpillars feed on Lonicera leaves, but thought pollination would be more of a hawkmoth thing? What do you think? Thanks so much

Emma, this is brilliant. And yes of course it's species specific. I wish thistles had been on my list, they seem to attract EVERYTHING, and theyre soo much fun to illustrate, too!
