Great to get finally glimpse that legendary demon and Karswell in colour...
Delving into Netflix's Studio Ghibli collection, I revisited Princess Mononoke - unsure how I'd forgotten the sheer amount of folk horror crammed into a kid's film...
It's said the first modern ghost story was 'A True Relation of the Apparition of Mrs Veal' a pamphlet written by Daniel Defoe, published in 1706. The haunting was based on an alleged Canterbury incident in which a local woman returned to her friend after death #folklorethursday

Oh, this seems like a good opportunity to share some artwork from one of those stories from Fantasmagoriana which inspired her -'Die Totenbraut' (or Death Bride) based on ancient European folklore. Here's a peak of my comic adaptation illustrated by the talented @CinemamindDavid

Big love x

One the best birthday presents over the weekend - receiving finished pages from the brilliant @CinemamindDavid for my adaptation of the ghost story The Death Bride by Friedrich Schulze. Said to have inspired Frankenstein & featuring early vampire-like folklore. Gorgeously gothic
