Writing about ichthyosaurs for LTTAII - reworked Ophthalmosaurus #paleoart now features alongside Triassic taxa. Text is >50% done and images are almost finished, but progress is slow due to other commitments. This'll be another book finished via late nights and early starts.
For #FossilFriday, here's #paleoart of the Triassic pterosaur Caviramus schesaplanensis, an animal with long wings, a robust skull, and densely-packed multicusped teeth. If you like this artwork, it's available from Redbubble as prints and merchandise: https://t.co/RPJDJwy4y0
It emerged yesterday that I have a mostly secret piece of Eotyrannus #paleoart: it's shown here, so we're back to being square and honest again. For more on Eotyrannus, check out @TetZoo's #BTCon18 thread: https://t.co/lCDPpKa6MX
For #FossilFriday, here's #paleoart of battling Iguanodon. We're used to the idea of igaunodonts having huge thumb spikes to fight with, but they're quite small and/or blunt in many species. Iguanodon has very large thumb spikes however, and may have used them antagonistically.
Have spent a lot of this week working on a new Jurassic marine life mural (will be released soon), so here's #paleoart for #FossilFriday on the same theme: Jurassic ichthyosaur Ophthalmosaurus, plus bonus pterosaurs.
For #FossilFriday, here's some #paleoart of the British wukongopterid Cuspicephalus boldly facing a blustery day. Note that 'boldly' meant 'cowering behind quillworts' in the Jurassic.
Experimenting with new Photoshop brushes this morning: here's the result, a quick painting of the woolly rhino, Coelodonta. Virtually all anatomical details taken from @TetZoo's excellent article on the life appearance of this animal. https://t.co/UPombPWBiY #paleoart
It's OK, everybody, I've got that skyscraper-sized superpenguin monster you all asked for.
Almost forgot #FossilFriday: here's some #paleoart of azhdarchid pterosaurs wandering over a riverbank, seen from above. Their pacing matches that of the azhdarchid ichnofossil, Haenamichnus, one of the only pterosaur tracks with an ID beyond 'pterosaur indet'.
