The beach here was used for speed trials & sand yachting in its hey day.
Malcolm Campbell set his first land speed record here in 1922 recording 138.08mph. (Not recognised internationally because they used hand held stop watches.)

Clive Hicks-Jenkins returns repeatedly to the theme of Saint Kevin and the Blackbird using the Seamus Heaney poem as inspiration, allowing interpretations to drift freely. In his most recent the Saint cradles the bird while taking his tea.

Tidying up after new carpets fitted. 😱 Sorting through the books and I come across The Soul of an Octopus. Tsundoku. So it’s on today's book table. And a reminder that occasionally strange things are washed up on the shore… a long way from home.

No praying mantis to hatch here. But the grain is growing, and days can be spent looking up at blue skies filled with clouds.

Sunrise and sea mists. Morning netted in the waters. A glimmer of falling light laid down on a a white-mothed reach of water. Summer in free fall before a lazy burning through the misty haze to sharpen the focus.

No sign of rising temperatures at the moment, it’s still unseasonably cold but everything is greening although not quite summer dark yet.
