Now that is high praise for Satoshi Kitamura, surely! I believe Duck is Dirty is now a board-book which would at least mean it had a sense of durability about it. A lovely story to share, Linda. Thank you

One of my favourite Kitamura books is I read it alongside Jane Doonan's & both of them showed me how subtle, deep & clever picturebooks can be in affecting the way we see and feel things in art.

I absolutely adored these: (Park Bench is old but if you can get it it's lovely). Komako Sakai is an incredible illustrator. Shinsuke Yoshitake is also worth pursuing and of course there's Kiki. (1/2)

I can't choose a favourite so here's a few. I' add that I am grateful to for bringing beautiful, translated books here to the UK. I seem to be drawn to books that adults don't think children should read (or will like) but are well-loved in other countries...
