These classic Zelda pages on Nintendo JP are so lovely!
Nice to have such a clean version of one of my favorite illustrations from the series. The feeling of danger and mystery in this one inspired me a lot. (Also my fave Link proportions.)

Fun stuff time!
We often get asked about things that didn't make it into #Spelunky2 and for some reason we never remember frogslug. Maybe frogslug doesn't want to be remembered. But we'll remember them anyway. Here's frogslug. 🐸
Happy birthday, Reyan! Thanks for the great book and all the awesome video game stuff you share on Twitter!
So hard to pick just four favorite game arts, but going with my gut...

Soulsbornes and roguelikes are maybe the first to come to mind when we're talking about continue/retry mechanics, but I also like how they were handled in Capcom arcade beat 'em ups.
I'd also love to see a big studio tackle a game like Façade - very small stage with few characters, so fidelity can be high, but still lots of extra resources to put into language parsing, AI, and interactivity to create nuanced emergent situations.

New indie #gamedev article up! What drives us creatively is sometimes what makes it hardest for us to finish our projects. I've taken some of the common hurdles I've encountered and categorized them through fictional "indie developer archetypes".
