Dating from the 12th C is a crucifix in Chiesa di San Michele in Foro, #Lucca
I marvel at the age of such illustrations of the angels & tetramorphs flying around the crucified Christ.

It was donated by the King & Queen of León (Ferdinand & Sancha) to the Royal Collegiate of San Isidoro, #León

The white marble statue of St John the Evangelist, with his eagle.
The sculpture is by Gueniot (1926) in the #ArtNouveau Église Saint-Jean de Montmatre.
The face is quite effeminate & the eagle is very powerful.

We were rather startled to see this .. lots of discussion about an identification, but feel it could be a Female Sparrowhawk?
PS - it left, as it entered, by the wide open garage door.

This #medieval tomb dates to c1200 & is reputed to be Queen Urraca of Portugal.
Sin is represented by dragons & siren birds represent saved souls.
