Happy 137th Birthday to our 32nd U.S. President and 44th NYS Governor Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Born in Hyde Park, NY in 1882, FDR served as NY Governor from 1929-1932 until he assumed his role as president in 1933. The NYSM History Collection houses many FDR artifacts.
The NYSM’s Sports Collection recently acquired some “cheerful” sports memorabilia from the Scotia-Glenville High School in Scotia, NY, including these cheerleading megaphones and basketball jersey from the late 1940s, early 1950s. #HistoryHumpday

Dr. Steven Chamberlain donated a collection of specimens from the Balmat Mining District in St. Lawrence County, NY. The NYSM now has the most complete & significant Balmat mineral collection that can be used for exhibitions, research, & education.

Theodore C. Baim (1910 - 1996) was a self-taught artist & botanist who illustrated plants to aid in his learning. He was able to capture the beauty of the often-overlooked mosses & lichens in beautiful watercolor paintings, fifty of which are housed in the Museum.
