From us to you Pink Roses by JD Fergusson 🌹 #MuseumBouquet
A #DougieDraws request from @LotsOfTreesHere via The MacKinnon Collection jointly held by our pals @natlibscot & @NatGalleriesSco. We think that this picture is all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble...(sorry)

Our second commission for #DougieDraws comes from our friends in the granite city, @AbdnArtMuseums. They challenged us to recreate Flood in the Highlands by Landseer.
A stunning effort even though there "wasn't enough colours in Paint" 🎨

Our events officer is a dab hand at putting together our podcasts & doing some other techy stuff but also Paint.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be challenging him to recreate the collections in MS Paint. Presenting #DougieDraws
Up first, The Grey Hat by JD Fergusson #NailedIt
For #FirstDayQuack, The Natural History of the British Surface-feeding Ducks by John G. Millais.
A hunter, naturalist, artist & writer, Millais travelled extensively collecting specimens and recording the birds he observed. #InternationalSolicitedDuckPicDay #FirstDayBack 🦆
Roses were a favourite flower of JD Fergusson's. The paint in this image is built up thickly in layers to create an added sense of volume and depth in the blooms #PinkRoses #JDFergusson
From our collection, this painting of The Knock by James McIntosh Patrick was commissioned by British Rail for an advertising poster in the 1950s promoting the spa town of #Crieff.
JD Fergusson secured a commission from the Ministry of Information to paint a series of paintings of Portsmouth Dockyard. He spent six weeks there gathering sketches and ideas from which he went on to paint a distinctive series of works now know as his Portsmouth Dockyard series.
This is one of a series of paintings that JD Fergusson made of the American fashion artist, Roberta (Bobbie) Paflin.
Fergusson painted several portraits of Paflin including 'Bobbie, Champs Elysees' & 'The Ochre Coat'.
Iconic Fergusson on until 27 October at #FergussonGallery.
