Eventually I get this horrible-looking colour map of all the different palettes. Now it's time to start recolouring the art and turning it from a pretty image into hard, cold, greyscale data. By wand-selecting the patches of colour I can flood-fill each part of the palette.
Next I start marking out all the tiles that share the same palette. Here I've used that arbitrary pale orange to mark all the tiles that have the brick palette of yellow, brown-orange, green-brown and black.
All this said, there's still enough sprite art space left for another 13 sprites, with another 12/40 available to show on the screen! Maybe I can cram in a few more for leaves or screws or something. Watch this space!
Instead let's look at just how tight the restrictions are. You can see if the player is above where they need to be, there are too many sprites on a scanline and we start losing some. In an early build I had one too many sprites on the feet and I lost a sprite.
@cwrstudios @suddensoulgame @nikodile_ Here's one of the 'singles' of meat highlighted in wireframe. Also here's a picture of the details on the fire extinguisher - including the red reflection on the metal hose, the slightly folded label, the warning sticker and the inset fullness gauge.
The game we made for #gbjam has got a post-jam fix so players can finally reach the ending with the pretty cutscenes-and it's free! (We stuffed this game with combat, block puzzles and RPG interactions. What a week)

Our Bestiary Book for Mork Borg, filled with monsters and horrible creatures is once again available for print, this time from @ExaltedFuneral :~) - now you won't have to squint at your mobile to read about bugs laying eggs under your players' skin.
There we go. I add a line down the side of the fish to round it out and push and pull until it's ready. Every time I take a screenshot for Twitter I realise some new mistake and have to go back in. We're now at 152 tris.
