Today, Anno Domini 1274, Blessed Hroznata, a Czech nobleman, participant in two crusades (albeit unsuccessful), the founder of the Premonstratensian monasteries in Teplá (male) and Chotěšov (female), died. Vita fratris Hroznatae, 1517, Bohemia (National Library CZ Teplá MS b 4)

Czech psalter National Library CZ XVII F 8 from the end of the 15th century is complemented by decorations made of animals in borders, captured during various human activities. The secular character suggests that the owner (more likely) was a noble lady or a wealthy patrician.

Gozzio z Orvieta?: Ius regale montanorum in Czech translation, 1528 (National Library CZ XVII D 43) with an image of a miner.
Iur regale montanorum was the miner code issued by the Czech King Wenceslas II. (died 1305) around 1300.

The UN declared June 4th as International Day for Children Victims of Aggression. Today, this day is mainly to remind us that children should have their childhood and not experience aggression (National Library CZ incunabula 42 D 36, manuscript XVII A 3 and XXIII.G.89)

Last week we visited Mexico in 18th century, today we invite you to Crimea. The manuscript of a Jesuit missionary contains a report on a mission to the Crimea with illustrations of the life of Tatar population at the time (VIII H 75). We were interested in depiction of a yurt.

22nd May is the International Day for Biological Diversity ... The manuscript of the Codex Mexicanus National Library CZ XVI B 18 by Jesuit Ignatius Tirsch says a lot in this regard. He captured Mexican nature in second half of 18th century, while much has not been preserved.

The newly digitized manuscript IV F 8 (1456-1458, Bohemia) contains work by Johannes Versor Quaestiones super varios libros. We were interested in the decorated initials - thematically, their creator (probably the scribe of the manuscript) was inspired only by the letter C.

Next newly digitized manuscript expanded group of digitized manuscripts (National Library of the Czech Republic). This V A 9 with Summa by Bartholomaeo de Sancto Concordio was written 1398 in Lusatia. BTW, more as half of our medieval manuscripts is accessible in Manuscriptorium.

Newly digitized manuscript National Library CZ V A 26 with works by Petrus Lombardus wasn´t written in Bohemia, but in South Italy (13/14 century). This is the reason, why the form of script is a bit different as we know from manuscripts from same period here in Middle Europe.
