@LordWordfab @rarebitfiend13 Probably the real worst offender people remember was Lady Death, although even she doesn't push the boundaries as far as some manga/anime.
The farthest that boundary was pushed in the mainstream afaik was Red Monika.
@Michael96303310 It's either a tree behind his head or he's the lead of a shonen manga.
@MasteroftheTDS The current industry's a mess, but featuring celebrities from time to time is standard practice. Jack Kirby turned Don Rickles into a superhero. Clark Kent once filled in for Steve Allen on TV. Howard the Duck and KISS. Spider-man and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.
@andrewthemandr6 @Exalted_Speed If some of the books feature pretty girls and boobs, well big surprise. We certainly don't see that anywhere else.
US comic books have used characters to sell Hostess Twinkies. That's cute.
The manga I follow just posted a special chapter to sell dakimakura of the three lead characters, who discussed the various ways they are used by pervert otaku.
Would you sell merchandise in your comic?
Manga: Batsuichi de Nakimushi na Otonari-san (My Divorced Crybaby Neighbour)
A single woman completely traumatized by an unhappy marriage struggles to build a new life.
A common theme in manga seems to be unhappy people struggling to become happy.
@maatkare67 @CaptMarvelology Many of the talents here are former DC/Marvel, so it doesn't really matter if you're impressed with the output or not.
We all know Marvel/DC's high standards.
@CaptMarvelology They're certainly not doing anything original. It's sort of natural to lampoon the Big Red Cheese as a corrupt monster, since his character is actually such an innocent, but as you say--enough already.
