In the original scenario, after being cleansed by "Moon Princess Halation," Esmeraude's soul was supposed to ascend to heaven while holding a rose. This was tragically changed in the final version of the episode, but thankfully, this ending made it into the picture book.

The dragon Esmeraude turns into looks completely different in the picture book, with a much cuter, more kid-friendly design (even shedding tears!)

In the picture book adaptation of episode 84, the crown Wiseman (who has regular human hands) gives Esmeraude looks a bit different from its anime counterpart

But most striking of all is how radically different Giwaaku looks in the picture book. Was this an earlier design concept for her, or did the illustrators invent it themselves?

Speaking of coloring differences, Esmeraude's fan is green and yellow in the picture book, not pink and white.

Prince Demand's throne is orange and purple with cutouts in the picture book. Likely the illustrators weren't given a color reference and had to improvise, but maybe that's originally how it was going to look in the anime.

Naru defend Ami in the episode, but in the picture book, she's one of the people maliciously accusing her of cheating. Was that the original plan for the episode, or simply a storytelling convenience for the picture book?

Kuri and Yumiko were originally meant to attend the cherry blossom viewing with everyone else in episode 51, but wound up getting cut from the show. Fortunately, they were included in the picture book.

In episode 34, Zoisite lures Tuxedo Mask to the Starlight Tower, but in the picture book, the setting is referred to as the "Crystal Tower."
