#InspireWrite D13: His feathered, blazing orange hair is ever at odds with the moody scowl beneath it. He moves with a lean, well-muscled grace. Powerful and effortless. His attire is a distinctly punk-rock-infused flavor of Japanese fashion, straight from the streets of Shibuya.
#InspireWrite D13: Been waiting to share these for a hot minute, but I think the time is right! I commissioned these portraits of my leads from @itslunaticstar and she absolutely nailed their appearance and personalities. (Please click to view. Twitter's auto-crop is atrocious.)
#InspireWrite D1IV: And my final lead, Hace Matthews, has touches of: Edward Elric, Dick Grayson, Luke Skywalker, Jessica Jones, and Kvothe the Bloodless.
#InspireWrite D1III: My second lead, Alinore Valmont was influenced by: Kendra Shaw, Satsuki Kiryuin, Lin Beifong, Risa Hawkeye, and Sherlock Holmes.
#InspireWrite D19: Personal experience aside, anime has had the greatest impact on how I write bros. Again, I generally prefer sworn/self-selected fraternity over biology, but Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood nails Ed and Al's relationship. (Who could've guessed from the title?)
@itslunaticstar No, totally get it. My most blatant weeb concessions are thick cloth bands covering a character's head that apparently do nothing to obscure vision. No, I don't explicitly explain how they work. Yes, they are cut away for a dramatic reveal. No, I won't apologize for being a hack.
#InspireWrite: my wife, @graeci, is the coolest taciturn person I know, and taught me almost everything I know about writing quiet folks, though she's not really aloof, and definitely not frosty. I do enjoy those archetypes as well, though—especially in anime. https://t.co/X71Mh3Jjyg
#InspireWrite D2: And of course, anime is a wealth of wonderful friendships. You don't get too much of Mustang and Hughes, but every second of screen time they share bleeds camaraderie. Haikyu is chockablock with non-toxic bromances. And Naruto and Sasuke. And so on and so forth.
@memnalar As long as it lives in the hearts of the faithful, #WriteAnime will never die! And you gotta finish that #WIP man, because I want to read it so bad that I already know I want to watch the adaptation afterwards.
