During #Splatoon2's SpringFest, posters of Pearl and Marina had Yoshi eggs over their faces. Since Yoshi is a character from the Mario series, this is just one of many things that imply depictions of Mario characters have been uncovered after humanity's extinction.

The Tenta Missiles special is likely based on soda. The launchers appear to be modified soda crates and the projectiles they shoot look very similar to soda bottles. The logo on the launchers can also be seen on vending machines in Inkopolis Plaza.

While real life squids and octopuses usually don't live longer than five years, inklings and octolings are able to live significantly longer. Cap'n Cuttlefish is 130 years old as of #Splatoon2, and DJ Octavio must be around the same age.

The insides of playable inklings and octolings' mouths match their ink colour. This feature, however, is absent from the idols, who's mouths stay pink regardless of colour. Their mouths change colour in some Splatfest art, but stay pink in others.

While gathering images for today's fact, I noticed something I somehow missed yesterday. While playable inklings and octolings don't have tongues on their models, the idols do.

Ears aren't the only differences in the Splatoon 3 models. Hairstyles do not connect properly to the body of the gender they were not intended for, meaning models must have been remade to allow hairstyles to not be gender locked.

Concept art for Splatoon 2 shows a full casual outfit for Marie that went unused in the final game, somewhat similar to the outfit shown in her Octo Valley dialogue portrait.
