Just wrapped on my last big task before building/testing the release candidates for Russian Subway Dogs on PS4/Xbox!
The final thing on my list was making a whole bunch of sound design improvements, tweaks, new sounds etc.
Some things I learned this time🧵
There is a segment where you have to slot 4 slates into 4 walls. My assumption was that you needed to match the the slate color to the compass letter color, which would have leaned into the game's core "HUD is full of subtle visual cues" design philosophy.
Conquest of the Crystal Palace was apparently designer Yasumi Matsuno's (FF Tactics, Vagrant Story) first game.
I love this touch where the shop girl also does little news bulletins. Good stuff!

The function buttons (PC-Engine select / Game Gear start) will give more details on items and spells.
Consumable items can be used to solve puzzles.
You can save anywhere so save regularly. Keep one save slot always on a safe floor just in case you get stranded on a harder one
A few tips if you're playing a Madou Monogatari game for the first time. Because they are still old games with a few rough edges...
I still wouldn't recommend playing them back to back without a break of course. It's more fun to revisit a familiar map with a few twists after some time away.
