Characters often talk around their feelings indirectly. Objects become potent emotional symbols for character relationships.
Just on an visual level Alternative gets FLCL's muted sepia tinged water colour palette, Progressive often missed the mark and features some down right ugly computer coloured backgrounds at times.

It's filled with these small moments and conversations that are incredibly relatable if you animate. For instance this segment where two of the characters look at animation reference and discuss how to draw explosions. I've 100% had that conversation.

Just stumbled on to this old They Bleed Pixels #pixelart illustration, that I don't think ever got used in the game. So much art gets revised and thrown out during game production, you forget things you drew.
