hey, new picture! variant for TWD issue 50, out in november.
if you're going through the book for the first time, some hints of things to come; and if you're revisiting, i put in about a hundred details and connections for you
the really early ones, first dozen or so, were painted-- which was a bad idea on half a day deadline, and without the color profile for the newspaper. they printed horiffically. but at least the painting quality was improving by leaps and bounds in the span of ~five weeks
sometimes i'd try other mediums than ink, to varying results. the first two here almost sorta get at that briggs line, but by next week i dropped that avenue entirely. before that i tried charcoal
i think any color stuff i have is at the studio, but a few color bits here https://t.co/0yB75uu370
i mean, that's the range you want (and still doesn't cover all of it, like the abstract paintings, or conan, or...)
@apeeatape greys make everything better!
really enjoying a (re)read of Griz Grobus, just great work all around from simon and jess and sergey. i read it a few times in black and white, already but this really is some perfect color for it, additional 🥇 to @the_nazavr https://t.co/j3ZJXXJyxz
it really needs all that vertical space that got lopped off, even in the 'empty' shots (especially in the empty shots)
it's background texture but why not make it a short story
