Played a bit while it was wet-in-wet. Some glare from the actual late afternoon sun competing with my depicted early morning sun…
I finished it. Mild dislike (as opposed to yesterday’s total disgust).
Not sure why, or what in particular (except that I know where I made mistakes).
Burn pile? Haven’t decided.
Winter vibe? I think so. I will let this dry and work details later.
On the road for a few days - helping NC daughter move north a bit.
I needed a success in watercolors. I hadn’t created anything worthwhile since early December.
Serious frustration.
So - with no client in mind and no deadlines I just set out to paint.
Chickadee, 8x10 on paper.
Time for a break - and to let the layer dry.
Focus today was on the water…with varying light and depth.
Work on the water necessitated work on the horizon and vice versa.
I think the land nay be too bright and crisp. I will sleep on it.
Today’s dog attempt. Less angry than yesterday’s, but I am still not getting the fur right…
In between working on two oils, I was asked to paint a friend’s dog. This is attempt number two. He’s too angry here…and I need to handle his chin better as well.
On to number three.
Just dropped my Cessna painting flat on the floor.
It was wet.
It’s ruined, and in the trash.
Here’s what it looked like before I tossed it.
I am beyond angry.
Tried to restore some of his whiskers…but the white gouache (cheating in the watercolor world) does not add.
