Putting aside the paint color …
Converting it to the @ArmorCollection American MK V No. 9591 means some changes to the sponson.
I think mine may be too narrow. (Reference pic shows it retracted for transport.)
I will sleep on it.
@ArmorCollection Are these all of its markings, or would there have been more?
I was going to be generic as I finished this painting, but I’d now like to represent it and the crew.
Finished? I think so. It’s down to tiny adjustments.
I am never sure what is enough re: rigging. This seems to me to offer enough of an impression to be credible. Agree?
USS Constitution (inspired by Duncan Gleason). 14x18 Oil on canvas.
This morning’s work: made my Tommys a bit taller, and started fleshing out the tank. Maybe more this afternoon - but it is a nice day, so maybe not.
Been playing with how to represent muddy ground.
Tried multiple brushes, brush strokes, and colors.
This is where I ended up and - to my mind - it looks like rough ground.
Agree?
Smaller details later (rocks, shadows, and battlefield debris)

A Vietnam vet that I know saw my sketch of the Huey and said, “you painted me!”
I offered it to him. He was at a loss for words.
Art is more than pigment on paper.
Sunday painting with my daughter (a day early). She painted this chicken - it’s fantastic!
I have had Vietnam on my mind - recently read a few books, one on aviation. So I painted a squad jumping from a UH-1 …
Fixed the radio antenna and the prop. Better, I think.
P-40 Warhawk, oil on 8x10 canvas.
After some editing (actual work!) I returned to the P-40. Getting closer to right.
Oils handle differently than the “open” acrylics, but not so much that I am stymied. I am doing working with straight pigment…not yet really using linseed or other mediums.
