In 1980 in Syracuse NY for the @SuperDIRTcar Super Dirt Week racer @garybalough112 had a trick up his sleeve! While some information leaked out that he had a special car built for that race! Not many details were known. Well it did not take long for the competition to know that
Kenny Weld started to race modifieds at the historic Reading Fairgrounds and around the Northeast because of the high paying purses and the amount of race that you could run! In Kenny Weld fashion he built his first car which put competition on it's ear. The car with drag tires
He also developed a program for the computer to machine cylinder heads which changed the market forever. Once out Kenny built a radically designed sprint car and showed up at @knoxvilleraces . Weeks later he broke his arm at Orrville in a crash. He decided to retire as a driver.
Kenny Weld used his time in prison very productive. The warden appointed the "shop instructor" to teach the inmates welding and other industrial jobs. He also had his wife bring him books on engineering and aerodynamics to study. It was here that he developed a sprint car design.

Kenny Weld is possibly one of a few people that has made many impacts in Motorsports in many ways! A race car driver that mastered the art of innovation an design. A car builder that was years ahead of the competition. And a winner on the race track !
Those who know @wrenchtwister00 will know that I am pretty fond of my past history with the Northeast @SuperDIRTcar @ShortTrackSS Modified racing cars!
Dave Blaney was one driver that watched his dad Lou race these cars! Blaney finished 2nd , 3 times on the Syracuse mile! Close!
One of the coolest cars to ever compete on the Outlaw Tour was the Dan Motter owned @motterms entery! Our @wrenchtwister00
"BAD ASS" Racers Tribute driver today, Dave Blaney wheeled this first class machine along with
@JoeySaldana and other notable drivers ! 🏁🔧🏁

The Blaney racing family from Ohio is synonymous with winning! The patriarch Legendary Lou Blaney is the start of it!
Dave Blaney, his son continued to carry the torch long with brother Dale.
Dave was huge a winner from the start.🏁
Greg made 7 attempts at Indy, making it in 1970. Greg was the last to try and put a Novi in the show! Greg started Weld Wheels and continued to race. A big winner in sprints, his business was great so he hung it up. Saying he wanted to be in business more than he wanted to race
