Leo Cleary had a successful racing career that spanned over 40 years. Dominating race tracks all over the New England area and beating he best and driving for many successful car owners he was another who left nothing on the race track. Once at Norwood Leo punched a driver.
Drivers like Rick Mears don't come around very often. From his early days at Ascot in the buggies to Bill Simpson given him his first ride in a Indy car , Rick had the makings of a winner. With some polish from Roger Penske, he became a 4 time Indy 500 winner!
A natural Champion
Tommy Ellis is one cat that did not fool around on the race track. If getting to the lead was in his sights ,and he did it not matter what was in front of him. It worked for Tommy too. A Champion and race winner, Ellis was as "BAD ASS " as they came. Plenty of talent ,rough edges
#Lionheart
Dan Wheldon was a "BAD ASS " for sure! https://t.co/rMntgy0Ra8
Rich Vogler was a loyal USAC racer that won them all. On Dirt or Asphalt Midgets,Sprint Cars, and Champ cars as well. A winner of the prestigious Chili Bowl and a 5 time starter in the Indy 500. A great mechanical mind with a smooth driving style. Rich lost his life at Salem ! 🙏
Hey Steve!
Here! Now it is official! https://t.co/MOD29enINA
Eddie Sachs was always smiling an joking around. Winning the Indy 500 was all that mattered to him. He said that Salam was his favorite race track because the hospital was really close to the track! 13 times he left the track in a ambulance. Unfortunately he died at Indy in 1964
In Motorsports there are a ton of great racecar drivers! Charlie Swartz is definitely one of those drivers. He kicked ass in sprint cars an late models. Cut out of the same mold as
Jack Hewitt! Charlie was as tough as they came! Not to mention he built a great race car as well
There you have it!
If "BAD ASS " racer @braddoty18 says that Bubby Jones was a "BAD ASS "
You know it is true! https://t.co/tALoqCGbnE
Bubby Jones was truly a "BAD ASS " !
In his early age Bubby learned how to cut hair as a barber from fellow racer Larry Cannon. He wanted something to fall back on in case the racing thing did not work out! I would say by the way his career went. Bubby did not cut much hair! ✂️
