Oh yeah, Trailblazer is frustrating as heck these days.
As a kid, I put in the hours and started to become really good at it. ..But these days I loaded the Remember crew's trained version for the C64 instead. Has many many options to disable any tile-types that annoy you. 😁

Influenced by one of my favourite GBC games and ably supported by a brilliant team this is my best C64 game.

Reviewers liked it as well, 3 Sizzlers:

WIP - Been a few weeks - heres an update. Space battle section is now bug free, fighter section nearing code completion, then onto cannon section.

Did a little curve editor so that the fighters vary their flight paths

Yeah. It's kinda disappointing to look at some of the C64 stuff these days and realize "hey, the actual game area here isn't huge at all": Driller, Fractalus.. and particularly Tau Ceti (though I can understand those, for frame rate) .. but The Last V8? Come on! 🤔

Fun game, runs at a good pace, but I would always lose the car into the background as it was hard to see and you would always end up facing the wrong way.

I'm conveniently forgetting RPG's coz, if I'm honest, I suspect more than 90% of my total time on the C64 and C128 was spent playing Ultima III, IV, V, and VI. (Significantly less time on VI, coz it wasn't very good on the C64 IMHO.) Those games were a serious addiction. 😁

heh.. I imagine the poor wee C64 trying to generate that scene. Maybe one frame per day? 😋

Elite was cool. I definitely spent a huge amount of time with it. (And other sim stuff, like Stealth Fighter and Red Storm Rising.) But I did play arcade games like Hunchback a lot too 👍

Beach Head is such a brilliant game.
I think I first played it on my friend's ZX Spectrum, which is a remarkably similar version. But, of course, with the extra sound you get on the C64, it's the one I'd go for. 👍
