100 years today since the end of WW1. This is "L'herbier des Tranchées", preserved at @Le_Museum, a herbarium created by a French lady, Louise Gailleton with plants sent between 1914 and 1918 by soldiers directly from the battle fields #powerful #Armistice100
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Pls RT & remember Edgar Hicketts who left the #army due to #shellshock or according to his records 'lack of moral fibre'. He suffered for the rest of his life & lost everything

#WW100 my #portrait of Edgar Hicketts who was gased in the #trenches & was sent home with #shellshock & 'lack of moral fibre'. He sent the rest of his life in & out of mental institutions. He had no rest as every night he continued to shake & shout out. #WW1 #WW1Centenary #PTSD
#RemembranceDay2018 #mural @DeePointPrimary @LoveChesterUK. A picture paints 1000 words. Here, an old British oak tree sees #WW1 come and go through the lives of one family - based on creative writing by the students.

This is George and Arthur. They were both #WW1 soldiers from #Wakefield. George survived the war but sadly Arthur died. To mark #Armistice100 we are remembering their stories. Find out more in our latest blog and visit our displays at Wakefield Museum. https://t.co/PAVtGYLgMi

Francis Wilkins was killed at Givenchy, France. The day before he’d taken a watch from a dead German soldier, even though his brother told him it would bring bad luck. He has no known grave.
