Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) created this beautiful painting of Holywells Park in 1748-1750. It's his only known landscape of Ipswich and depicts the park's man-made reservoirs. The park is still a stunning part of our town, extending over 69 acres. #cityMW #MuseumWeek

A female Taiwanese artist, Chen Jin (1907-1998), was the only well-known female painter before 1945 of the colonial period. Her focus was primarily in gouache painting, with a special emphasis on figures paintings.
