The HS looks only marginally ok around the main islands but that area has so many damn points. And I started this process to save time and I'm realizing it's going to probably take more than I want to fix this. So rather than tug of war this I'm going to go back to the Contours.
Trying to make fog with hand-drawn contours. Using a particle effect with custom billboarding that sorta works from most angles. Is there such a thing as stylized fog that has clear textured shapes in it, but works from all camera angles?

@AlwaysTeaTime3 Oh, Quincy my beloved. She's my default when I have art block and the easiest POV for me to write, I love revisiting her for short stories or for fun little art detours. Idk if anyone will ever top her.
