True. I've always thought that trilobites were the last perfect form. Humans, as representatives of life on Earth, are taking us downhill pretty fast.

How many of us actually understand the meaning of the word "emergency" in the phrase, ?

Great coverage of and 's new paper on the licentious habits of trilobites. Choice passages: "shroud of mystery," "flexible fingerlike," "shriveled limbs," "spiny backside." Will the scandal never end?

This is one of a series of prints of one of the ubiquitous and wildly successful trilobites, prehistoric creatures which lived for hundreds of millions of years, carved by hand in linoleum, printed onto lovely Japanese washi papers and collaged with papers in different colours.

Some detail shots. The image includes the radiodont Peytoia, trilobites Elrathia and Asaphiscus, mollusc(?) Wiwaxia and many other creatures that won't fit the single tweet characters lol. Be sure to check the link below to see all species and the story behind the scene.

Kabuto Origins:

According to Red & Green's 1996 strategy guide, Kabuto's the oldest Pokemon in existence. This is fitting since it's based on 520 million years old trilobites, as well as horseshoe crabs (244mya).

Asaphus

A small trilobite known from over 25 species, the best known ones are recognized by its long eyestalks but the size of these depends on the species

ALT: a species with small eyestalk, some specimens have been found enrolled, which is something most trilobites could do

Heres my trilobites beetle/various other beetles mon ive been working on since beetles are known to be sexually dimorphic I thought this would be a cool idea to play around with a female the releases pheromones to have the male at its side at all times Bug/steel and bug dragon~

Trilobites are a completely extinct group of arthropods, which don't resemble any of the animals.

Koneprusia

A rare and spiky trilobite, it probably grew its spikes to deter predators from attacking it

ALT: Cleaning trilobites is a specially complex job, as they have so many frail spikes and details, some times spikes have to be removed and reattached during the process

Some fossils can become pyrite, a form of mineral mistaken with gold. This happens mostly to precrambrian fossils, like ammonites and trilobites, so I made this of & with pyrite shells, both are water/steel type

Acidaspis

A common, relatively small at about 2 cm, quick and very spiky trilobite, its likely that trilobites grew spikes this long to deter predators

ALT: surprisingly there's remains of this genus found from 4 geologic periods, it survived from the cambrian to the devonian

On this I find myself spending the night in Moline Kansas. It's been a day of collecting Permian marine fossils in SE Kansas. Yes, looking for very rare trilobites ... lots of critters but no biters so far. As much as you could ever want.
