@sarahwebbishere This gorgeous book features a little girl who loves dinosaurs, how apt! #BookElves2021 #LateLateToyShow
For great childrens fiction featuring wonderful characters and real Irish places, people and history, I recommend @judi_curtin Lily series #BookElves2021
@DarcyCameron7 @RTELateLateShow You could try the Isadora Moon books (age 6/7+) which are very sweet friendship and family stories about a girl who is half vampire, half fairy. Really well written and the illustrations are a treat. #BookElves2021
Calling the #BookElves2021
Would you like to introduce yourself and tell us your favourite children's book of all time?
I'm Sarah, children's writer, bk event programmer, children's book reviewer and part-time children's bookseller.
I'm going to choose Where the Wild Things Are
Part 1 #bookelves2021 These are new/new-ish, but they're all instant classics: stories of love and folklore by @Oeiny a the dark and brilliant retelling by @propermiss a pure storytelling delight by @sarahwebbishere and a character of Paddingtonian proportions by @IonaRangeley
Mr @paddydonnelly has had quite the year with four picturebooks published! The Vanishing Lake is my favourite of the four, his first as author/illustrator. It's the charming story of a lake that disappears - based on a real Irish lake. Age 4+ #BookElves2021
Eoinín 📚💚🐑
Is leabhar gleoite cairtchláir é Eoinín ag Futa Fata, scríofa go binn ag Muireann Ní Chíobháin agus maisithe go speisialta ag Róisín Hahessy. Leabhar idirghníomhaíoch cairtchláir don aos óg is babaí nua 🐑📚

Weird, perhaps, but I love reading aloud in Irish (Kids arent in Gaelscoil but they tolerate me). @futafata are the go-to for bks as-gaelige. New version of an old fairytale Clusa Capaill an Ri is fab. They even have trnsltions of all your kids favourite bks 7/10 #BookElves2021
The #BookElves2021 are hard at it, recommending great books for the young readers in your life. The Boot series by @shanehegarty illustrated by Ben Mantle are great fun for younger readers (6+) who love robots. Lots of gentle humour and great friendship themes too.
Another Irish picturebook from 2021 - The Vanishing Lake by @paddydonnelly
The story of a very special lake that disappears and reappears, a girl and her clever and wise grandfather. Charming illustrations and an original story. @RTELateLateShow #BookElves2021 #LateLate

Is fada le Fia go dtabharfaidh sí cuairt ar an oileán draíochta.
Oíche amháin, téann sí chuig an oileán í… #bookelves20

Books! Michael Collins - one for history lovers age 9+ #BookElves2020 #LateLateToyShow
If your child likes Roald Dahl or David Walliams try these amazing books. #BookElves2020 #LateLateToyShow #LateLate
If your child loves Roald Dahl there are some amazing Irish books they might also love. How about Boot by @shanehegarty or the Onion O'Brien series by Jason Byrne, illustrated by @OisinMcGann #BookElves2020
@katebielinski I often suggest trying something completely different after HP but wonderful like Wonder in fact! Or how about the Murder Most Unladylike books. Nevermoor for fantasy or Storm Keeper's Island - both terrific and great for this age. #BookElves2020
While we are waiting for the #LateLateToyShow - the #BookElves2020 would be happy to give you some personal recommendations for the child or teen in your life.
Ask away! It may get a little busy in 30 mins!
If they like Roald Dahl they will love... Boot by Shane Hegarty and They Didn't Teach this in Worm School by Simone Lia #BookElves2020
@mrstks2 I like the odd bit of glitter myself! How about pink sparkles and a bit of goth thrown in for good measure? The Isadora Moon books are great fun! #BookElves2020
One of my favourite books to gift a new baby is Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury - such a charming rhyming text and the illustrations are sublime. Avail in board book too. #BookElves2020 #BooksforBabies
@RiceIvor If they like Roald Dahl they might like the Danger is Everywhere series by David O'Doherty, illustrated by Chris Judge - very funny! Or the Artemis Fowl series or the Fowl Twins books by @EoinColfer or Boot by @shanehegarty or the @judi_curtin books
