We’re celebrating #MosaicMonday with the gorgeous Dominus Julius Mosaic from Carthage.
Dating to the late C4th–early C5th CE, the mosaic captures the daily life of the elite across three registers with a dwelling at the centre.
This piece is held in the Bardo National Museum.
The Bacchus mosaic from Stonesfield #Roman villa uncovered in 1712 and subsequently destroyed by souvenir hunters, was featured in this amazing 18th c embroidery looked after by the wonderful @OxonMuseum (the most Oxfordshireist museum in Oxfordshire 😁)
