You'll see Tōrea or Oystercatchers on most NZ coastlines, and as their english name suggests they mainly eat a seafood diet. There are three types of Oystercatchers, their feathers range from black & white to entirely black, the more south you go the blacker they are. (1/2)

30th January 1019 AD. The last Bear in England stood by the flat golden shores of the Wash, midst the oystercatchers & the godwits. His heart was troubling him & he had little strength left. As the moon rose, he felt dizzy & fell there on the soft dunes, under a blaze of stars.

Nice afternoon and lovely weather at Cresswell watching the foraging oystercatchers, they always seem to me to have the look of the dodgy penguin “Feathers McGraw “ in Wallace & Gromit , unless it’s my dodgy watercolours! Have a great weekend all 👍

Just finished up this hoodie design featuring the very cool Eurasian Oystercatcher for some equally cool guys deployed overseas. Can’t wait to see how turns them out! Thanks for your service guys. Can’t wait to send these y’alls way!

An Oystercatcher this morning often heard before they are seen (by me anyway)

Emily Roberts observed this variable oystercatchers (tōrea-pango) with an identifying leg band. Turns out, this beauty was banded in 1982 at Somes Island, Wellington. This makes our feathered friend at least 37 years old - lookin' good for an old bird!

Since I'm saving up for a good scope, It's good to practice watching videos online and do "field sketching" that way to keep in shape! Couple of Oystercatchers as requested!
