#Monstober Day 6: Tusked
Me: For "tusked" I could draw like a cool elephant or walrus monster or maybe some kind of orc/ogre thing.
Also me:
#SciFiDaily Ken Kelly's "Princess of the Walrus" intrigues me. Is she a selkie who bred with the seals' tusked cousins? Or maybe she's from a related race wiped out in a horrific war with the selkies? Either way, she's all babe & fits into more than one of kind of fantasy.
A #pride palette bust for Minshft on Discord! It was good to revisit this tusked peryton!
Thanks for commissioning!

The travertine site at Bilzingsleben, Germany, has fossils from straight-tusked elephants, woolly rhinos, and macaques dating to an interglacial probably 400,000 years ago. The #hominin population left tools and remains of at least two individuals. #paleoanthropology

The other night I dreamed of a monster that looked like a huge tusked wolf but was actually a skeletal elk wearing a wolf's skin. Or like one of those awful fish mouth parasites. I thought he was very neat and I hope he's having a nice day trying to appear normal
THE AQUALISH were a tusked amphibious species from Ando which had some arachnid genetic material in their past. They had a reputation for being highly aggressive & generally pursued careers as mercenaries, bounty hunters, and pirates. Cont’d 👇👇 #TheMandalorian #StarWars
Keep thinking about how we think of Odobenocetops (extinct tusked cetacean) as having one extremely long tusk and one very short but we only actually have a single male skull so this could have just been an anomaly and maybe they normally had two short tusks, or two long ones?
Palaeoloxodon namadicus, named by Falconer and Cautley, 1846. Or Asian straight-tusked elephant from India (where it was first discovered) to Japan. It also lived in Sri Lanka. Pleistocene epoch (extinct 24,000 years ago) and was 22-24 tons and an imposing (17-16 feet)
Case closed. The Columbian mammoth of Primeval would actually be a Palaeoloxodon namadicus (straight tusked elephant). The Columbian's skull wasn't very bumpy and the bull's tusks were different too (the specimen in the episode is confirmed to be a bull). Artwork by RJ palmer.
(the fullbody was done using @/slimeyfur ’s base!!)
