Happy St. George’s Day. I hope that England can escape from its own imperial ego, and release its geographical diversity, its infinite quirkiness, into a delighted world. Tho Scots Indy is needed first, to decisively break Blake’s “mind-forg’d manacles”. Peace & love, Jerusalem

This is one of my favourite little paintings by Rembrandt. Jeremiah (1630) is lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem. The feeling of sadness & loss is palpable. The miller’s son really understood & translated emotion. Viewed in the museum, the sadness is devastating.

Frohe Ostertage! 🐇🥚❤️

Today is Holy Tuesday, traditionally known as Temple Tuesday, as it was on the Tuesday before Our Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins, that he expelled the merchants from the Temple in Jerusalem, accusing them of turning it into "a den of thieves".

Today is , start of the Holy Week of Easter, a day to remember how Christ was welcomed as he rode into Jerusalem.
They couldn't understand why a King would ride on a donkey.
Giotto shows us the emotion & strangeness of that moment with great clarity
