Good Morning Everyone.
Our first four today are courtesy of Eric Ravilious (1903-42) He was a Wood Engraver ,Painter, Designer and Book Illustrator.
A favourite of mine and a very important artist. Sadly died when as a war artist the aircraft he was in was lost off Iceland
Buoys and Grappling Hook, Eric Ravilious, 1933. The original artwork was sold at @ChristiesInc in 2016 and is believed to be in a private collection.

I had my own #SussexDay yesterday, not knowing there was such a thing. It's today apparently and a fine excuse for this quartet from Ravilious. Top left to bottom left 'Chalk Paths', 'Cuckmere Haven' , 'The Long Man' watercolour, 1939 & same 1929, wood engraving print on paper.
Douglas Pittuck 1911–1993 b. Plumstead, London, artist & teacher, studied under the likes of Eric Ravilious at the Ruskin. He remained an active artist whilst teaching at Barnard Castle School & his impressive mural still graces the east wall of the town’s St Mary’s Parish Hall.

Peggy Angus 1904-1993 b. Chile but grew up in Muswell Hill, painter, designer & influential teacher, best known for her industrial designs, tiles & wallpaper (do check them out). Her cottage near Beddingham attracted a circle of artists including Eric Ravilious & John Piper.
