The Search for Sharla. Planned for multiple platforms including + and advertised for months.

A cancelled ambitious cross between Lords of Midnight and Dungeon Master. Only end sequence + novella is currently preserved.

Aztec is a really funky game. I believe it came to the C64 from the Apple II (hence it's character-based graphic gorgeousness), but it's got a messy kinda art style to it that I quite like. Everything has this semi-abstract threatening look to it that creates a feeling of danger.

Arrrrrr. For we take a look at Pirates! (1991)

A port of the classic baring Sid Meier's name, and a solid one at that. Notably, tobacco is replaced as a trade item by crops because of family-friendly requirements

Hard Drivin' by Domark/Tengen for the (1989). Easily the worst home version of the Atari arcade driving/racing game. Not one you'd want to endure for too long with its awful controls/slow pace. Loading screen graphics & music aren't bad so only positives there.

Less impressive than last night's Ryu progression, this is all of his sprites from the original Street Fighter. In order: Arcade, PCE/TG16, Amiga/Atari ST, Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, C64 (EU), C64 (US) and PC (DOS). Of course, all versions are covered in detail in the first chapter!

Rescue on Fractalus (Lucasfilm Games, 1985). Lovely , looks like some proto 😉

Hey, how does the white spy have a black hat?
That's not right.

Though it's lower resolution, I like the C64 one. It somehow manages the cute cartoony look well. 😁

One of the battle backgrounds for using the palette. Really enjoyed working on this one. Give the game a follow (it's awesome!)
