It depends if I'm working with inked work or not.

If the work is inked, I tend to fill in areas with the lightest color and then add shadows (image left)

If the work isn't inked, I tend to start with the darker colors and then add highlights (image right)

oh my gosh XD yes, thats an old version. I stopped having fun drawing it so I re-wrote it to make Lilyfeather the main character instead of Dart. Thats an old cover too- rn this is the closest to a cover I've got. Next update is all inked, just gotta colour.
