Now I've tamed retopology but I still can't escape the death grip of rigging. I used the rigify addon on this model and it didn't work very well because none of the available rigs match this character so I only posed the parts that worked and called it a day

A splash of color before moving on to retopology. The missing details will be added using normal decals.

Took me a while but now I can highlight nearest edges from hit location(very accurate). I was using https://t.co/Akn30ujFkx, but that meant selecting edges behind the model.

Retopo is "done" until I figure out what still doesn't work. Doing skinning now, texturing probably last.

Kinda want to redo the face, but I'm going to keep telling myself that anime faces just don't look right with "realistic" shading.

So far, I've always used Quad remesher, which is useful for single-frame renders but not exactly good for animation.

Just tried to manually retopo Sisu, while keeping the amount of poles as low as possible. They appear almost impossible to fully avoid :/

Any tips/feedback?

Got pretty far with Trazyn today, only need to make small additions/trinkets, then we can move onto retopoing him into something that's not 946k tris...

I can't wait to start texturing him!
