for #SundayFishSketch ....
A freshwater fish! I don't draw those often!
Wilommkthys, from the Carboniferous period, is dead. that's all i have to say about it, really
it is a funny-looking fish, though
For #SundayFishSketch a repost. #teamAnadromous rocking with the coho salmon. #FreshVsSaltyFish.
Here an interesting paper regarding the effects of salmon declining body sizes for the ecosystems they inhabit. https://t.co/NpR9p0CFfM
For the spooky #SundayFishSketch theme: Dana viperfish #halloweenart
Since my first #SundayFishSketch was only a few months ago, I decided to do a different sunfish: the Opah.
An awesome ambush predator, the #perch is found in UK rivers, lakes and canals. With tiger-like stripes, this ferocious hunter is easily identified by a row of dorsal spines and orange fins #AnimalOfTheDay

The Southern Opah (Lampris immaculatus) Thanks @Lampichthys for creating the #SundayFishSketch hashtag for us all to have fun with. Happy 4th Birthday
"Home is Where the Anemone is" #SundayFishSketch #gouache #clownfish
I think my first #SundayFishSketch entry was for the #pokemon themed fish. Here is a new take on Lacipenfu the #sturgeon in early Ken Sugimori style using ink & watercolor.
It's not from today's prompt, but I wanted to share a sketch and finished illustration of an Asian Arowana and a Big Boy Arapaima that I completed this week. #SundayFishSketch
An old #SundayFishSketch that fits this week's theme of "Fish that live inside other animals" - many species of cichlids are maternal mouthbrooders, meaning baby cichlids live in their mom's mouth until they are big enough to avoid predators!
Offtheme #SundayFishSketch and #Ichtober. I couldn’t decide so I’m posting both. Tope shark ( locally soupfin) - recently assessed as overexploited in SA. This species has been fished for over a 100 years in the Western Cape.
#Comic about #octopus for #teamfish out there! #SundayFishSketch
Extremely sloppy #SundayFishSketch.
Sword fish and relatives have brain endothermy. Warmer brain and optic nerve benefit these organs when fish encounter steep thermal changes (e.g. deep dives). More in the paper by Wainwright and Longo https://t.co/FSxvC7xRnz
This week #sundayfishsketch "endotherm fish", I figured we would see many Opah, so, I tried my luck with its #larval stage. Fun but challenging task, as very few image exist, except from Matarese et al. 1989 drawings. I hope you'll like it! Its certainly not that accurate.
Back to a watercolor attempt for this week’s #SundayFishSketch. Theme is #endothermic fish. Though not truly endothermic, #billfish-like this Indo-pacific sailfish, have heat-producing tissue derived from the superior rectus eye muscle that warms their brain and eyes
My first ever #SundayFishSketch. Turning an inanimate object into a fish. Hammerhead upright vacuum.
For this week's theme - turn an inanimate object into a fish - I am giving a shout out to a summer favorite from @FreeStateBeer. A couple GAR-den Party bottles with a take on their signature rabbit as a backdrop. Fun theme! #SundayFishSketch
#SundayFishSketch has scrambled my brain this week. The brief is to make a fish from an inanimate object. I’ve made the short leap from a box fish to a cardboard box fish. It turns out that cardboard is tricky to draw.
I don’t work on Mondays so technically today is my Sunday, so here is my #InvasiveSpecies #SundayFishSketch! The Red Shiner, oh so beautiful but oh so invasive
