Step 2: Local Color

After getting the basic darks mapped out I start in with some loose color. The aim is to build a base upon which I can execute the final strokes.

Sorry for the sudden notif, but check update video again, there's a bit of a quick patch for the build available, it fixes the trigger inputs (if you haven't downloaded or remapped the triggers yet) and a bugfix for silver where he couldn't grab some objects after throwing them!

Finally decided on sprite resolution, proportion, art/animation style & mapped the draft for her idle sprite. Some stuffs to fix & I'll finalize the prototype sprite!

Jitter outline: Because the noise wobble is uv mapped, it moves with the geometry, so more complicated and skinned meshes work fine without swimming. Only the outline mask is screenspace (adjustable normal/depth diff or sobel), but that could be done with a inverted hull instead.

Photoshop “sketches” first. Then mapped out onto the 3D expanded mesh template of the model: this is then applied to the model in VRED as a texture finish then rendered out with custom lighting and environments

So for the jay I went back to SAI, exported every single color layer as its own .png (glad I kept every color on its own layer in the first place! thanks past me!), path->trace bitmapped each one individually in inkscape, then assembled them. Definitely cleaner results.
