Anyone familiar with the Fachan from Scottish mythology? He's featured in my current WIP, a children's fantasy novel, but all I've found on him so far is a general description of his appearance and a not-very-detailed account of his personality.

In Ibaraki prefecture, Japan there is a known as hiyoribo who summons the sun and ensures good weather. It lives in the mountains & is only visible on sunny days. It is believed to be a variant of the Chinese weather spirit hiderigami.

Yuki-onna (Snow Lady) is a Japanese yurei (ghost) who appears as a beautiful woman during snowstorms, often without legs, drifting across the the snow. One glance at her can cripple you & if you look at her she’ll suck the life from you via your mouth.

I heard that this was about plants!
In English and Scandinavian folklore, the Elder Mother was said to guard the elder trees.
In other stories, a farmer takes a branch from an elder tree and later sees a witch with a bandaged arm.
