Rover's most successful export to Japan was by far its oldest design - the evergreen classic Mini, shown in this mid-90s brochure. Japanese models had the familiar Mayfair and Cooper designations, but featured a more complex facia with standard aircon.

SEAT's first new model since its split from Fiat, the Ibiza used the platform of the Ronda (itself a disguised Fiat Ritmo/Strada) with a neat Giugiaro-styled body, initially just in 3-door form. Much was made of the new 1.2 and 1.5 'System Porsche' engines.

The Combi Coupé made its debut in 1974 and was initially only a three-door, although a five-door would come later. Saab's brochures spent a lot of time on spelling out the comfort and safety of the company's products, which tended to be more expensive than many competitors.

Saab made a big deal of its new Combi Coupé version of the 99, calling it the only car in the world to justify such a name. It added it 'avoided the cumbersome van-like appearance which many people find unattractive' - perhaps a dig at the rival Volvo 245.
