Elephantimorphs look normal to us today, but they're really bizarre in comparison to the basal members of Proboscidea. Eritherium, on the right, for example looks much like a hippo against my old mastodon design.

Members of the Aristolochiaceae are magnoliids with bisexual, sometimes tubular & have parts in multiples of 3. They can be low herbaceous plants or lianas (woody, climbing vines); have simple, alternate leaves; & fruit that are capsules.

Feathered creatures are among my absolutely favorite animals to draw. In 2019 I enjoyed studying the incredible variety and colors of marine and forest birds across our continent.

This is my last piece of of 2019. A horridus and a rex. Probably the two most well recognized dinosaurs.

Day 7 of Theme: Borealopelta. I was not at all in the mood to draw one so I killed, halved and silhouetted it. As one does.. (Istiodactyls and Deinonychus feed on its corpse).
