Here's an update. I'm doing 11 diff heads for refrence as opposed to the 4 from the original design. His hair is pretty fun to do.

Usually animators go more ham when the designs of characters go more in depth and are shown from diff angles

It’s mostly about head shape. You can get a lot out of some angles by mishmashing things together. My Colquhar design is a result of doing this for example.
