I just enjoyed reading "The Shadow Glass," an Elizabethan graphic novel by , whose characters include John Dee, Edward Kelley & Madimi, w some Aleister Crowley nods peppered in. The last image isn't part of the story, but from the image gallery at the back of the trade.

I always loved John Waterhouse for loving the Bard’s smart, female characters: Miranda, Ophelia, Cleopatra, & Juliet. He didn’t drown them in Elizabethan fashion either, but painted them in a Victorian alchemy of bohemian beauty, & assured selfhood. ☺️❤️

Oooo cool! I am working on an outline about a roller sports story/anime taking place in Sicily (location tentative) that stars black characters: a skateboarder, a roller skater and a biker. It’s called Sicily Underground. This girl wears Elizabethan dresses when she skates!

In Shakespeare’s day, ghosts were serious business. The religious turmoil in Elizabethan England meant that when he penned the scene, of Hamlet facing his avenging, ghostly father on the ramparts, it would be bone-chilling. 😱

1552 Explorer Sir Walter Raleigh was born in Devon. He was a favourite of Elizabeth I, but here's PUNCH cartoonist Mike Williams' spin on their relationship and Raleigh's enthusiasms! 1987 “Oh God! What’s Walter brought back this time?”

Imagine an alt universe where Elizabethan alchemists cracked the secrets of the occult & accidentally opened a portal to a strange dimension where creatures from Human & myth exist (but with slight twists to what we think we know).

Rough rug-headed (Irish) kerns: 2 images, by Dürer (1521) (does rug-headed also suggests the mantle worn over the head, as here?) & the wonderful portrait of Capt. Thomas Lee (1594), by Gheerhaerts. It's his bare legs which = 'kern', although other features are Roman/Elizabethan.
